It would, however, be a mistake to think you’ve got to travel a great distance in order to go on this kind of break, as there are many places within England that make for glamorous glamping holidays. Choose to visit any of the following and you can do away with all the stresses that can come with air travel – including long airport queues and jetlag – so you’ll be in a better frame of mind for your break to begin.
Sussex
One place that I think makes for an especially wonderful glamping destination is Sussex. It’s in this charming destination that you can stay in the stylish Bensfield Treehouse that is nestled in the heart of the countryside. Despite its rural location, it is less than an hour away from London, so it’s the perfect place to go if you need to take a respite from life in the capital.
With the property built around a stunning oak tree and accessible only by rope bridge, you’ll be well-placed to take things easy and relax. You’ll have the chance to take in panoramic views of Sussex’s sweeping fields from the comfort of the treehouse’s sundeck, before walking through the 44 acres of farmland that the property is located in.
If you feel like travelling a little further afield, head to Royal Tunbridge Wells. As the only spa town in south-east England, this charming destination contains a wealth of pretty Georgian architecture and regularly hosts farmers’ markets.
Shropshire
I also think Shropshire’s a great place to visit if you are thinking of going on a glamping holiday. With the county easily accessible from Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands, it’s little wonder that it is a popular destination for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Rather than looking for treehouses here, though, I think you should seek out one of the county’s converted caravans as the destination for your break. Remember that one of the best things about glamping holidays is that you have got a wide range of properties to choose from, so there’s plenty of scope to stay in unique accommodation.
Visit the Marches region of the county and you can take in sweeping views of fields and woodland from the comfort of your caravan. Of course, it’s a good idea to travel outside the confines of your accommodation – even if just for a few hours each day – and heading to the lakes surrounding Ellsemere is a great place for activity lovers.
Here, you can go boating and fishing at nine different bodies of water, while taking a stroll along the numerous paths that surround the lake give you the chance to see herons feeding. If you’re into cycling, I recommend you follow the Jack Mytton Way, a 72-mile off-road route that takes you through Wenlock Edge and along the Welsh border. Alternatively, you can take the Six Castles Cycleway. As its name suggests, this sees you pass half a dozen medieval properties, including the remains of the 11th-century Bishop’s Castle.
